We do, however, wish to remind you that as a hospital and healthcare system, our priority is providing a safe comfortable healing environment for our patients. To that end, and to comply with patient privacy laws, we have adopted the following policies:

We may deny access to a patient if the presence of photographers or reporters would aggravate the patient's condition or interfere with hospital care

We require that a Medical Center spokesperson accompany media representatives at all times when they are in our facilities

To comply with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the following activities require prior written authorization from a patient:

photographing or videotaping the patient

interviewing the patient

if the patient is a minor, permission for these activities must generally be obtained from a parent or legal guardian
